Lotus appointed by Efteling to handle PR in the UK

Travel specialist agency, Lotus, has been appointed by Efteling Theme Park Resort to manage its PR and support the development of its social media channels in the UK.

Following a three-way pitch, Lotus has been briefed to grow awareness of the popular Dutch theme park amongst the British public, emphasising its family and multi-generational appeal. The theme park also celebrates its 65th anniversary in 2017 and has seen the opening of its third accommodation offering: Holiday village Efteling Loonsche Land, and its newest and largest attraction: Symbolica: Palace of Fantasy.

Located in the south of Holland, Efteling is one of the largest theme parks in Europe, attracting more than 130 million visitors since its opening in 1952. Through a programme of phased growth over the coming years, Efteling aims to become an international destination with five million visitors per year by 2020. Lotus will support this expansion in the UK through consumer and trade PR and social media activities. It aims to position Efteling as a unique alternative proposition to its European competitors, emphasising its value for money and year-round appeal.

Lotus will work alongside Claire Hancer, Efteling’s country manager – UK and Ireland, supported by the team in the Netherlands.

Fons Jurgens, President and CEO, Efteling, says “We are convinced that Lotus will be able to deliver on growing awareness for Efteling in the UK. We have been impressed with their understanding of the UK media landscape for the Efteling product, as well as their vision and creativity for driving visitor expansion. We look forward to working with the team as we realise our targets for growth."

Jules Ugo, managing director, Lotus “We’re delighted to be appointed by Efteling and look forward to raising the profile of the park, its outstanding attractions and fantastic accommodation offering in the UK.”

The account will be headed up by managing director, Jules Ugo and supported by Georgina Oakley and Lucy Keenan.
