BALEARIC ISLANDS BRING TOGETHER THREE SPORTING ELITES IN WTM EVENT FIRST

On 3 November 2015, World Travel Market, London, will bring together sporting legends Sir Bradley Marc Wiggins CBE, Sean Kelly and Nuria Picas to share what makes the Balearic Islands the ideal destination for cycling and trail running.

Sir Bradley Wiggins CBE, professional road and track racing cyclist and three time Olympic gold medallist is a regular visitor to the Balearic Islands. Britain’s first ever Tour de France winner laid the ground work for much of his success in Mallorca where he spends most of his time training throughout the winter.

Irish cycling hero, Sean Kelly, who retired in 1994 after a record 188 professional victories, still keeps his love of the sport alive by travelling to the Balearic Islands at least three times a year to train and cycle with people from all over the world. At WTM, Sean will outline what sets the Balearic Islands apart as the ideal destination for both amateur and professional cyclists..

Catalan born Nuria Picas grew up in the mountains around Manresa, shaping her life to be all about sport and nature. Nuria is famous in the world of trail running. After suffering a leg injury from a mountaineering accident, medical professionals announced she would never run again. However after much hard work and determination, the running legend went on to be proclaimed the Ultra Trails World Champion in 2012. She is a regular in the Balearics and often trains on their rocky and steep terrain.

For the first time ever, World Travel Market will bring these three greats together to hear them talk about their training in the Balearic Islands and what makes the picturesque islands such a premium sport destination.

World Travel Market takes places at London Excel between 2 and 5 November 2015. This one off presentation takes place on Tuesday 3 at 12.00 pm with places open to relevant attending media and travel professionals.
