LOTUS has been appointed by the Mediterranean island of Formentera to support the island’s tourism recovery, managing both travel trade outreach and PR in the United Kingdom.
Formentera is the smallest of the Balearic Islands and is accessible via boat from the neighbouring island, Ibiza. Surrounded by sparkling clear waters and long stretches of beach, Formentera is a strikingly beautiful island paradise with charming villages and a distinct laid-back culture.
In recent years, the island has been recognised for its conservation efforts including its #SavePosidonia campaign to conserve the Posidonia Meadow; an oceanic marine plant that helps create a unique submarine ecosystem. Likewise, Formentera has ambitious targets to eliminate plastic with a plan to phase out single-use plastics by 2025.
Moving forward, LOTUS will work alongside the team in Formentera during the tourism recovery phase to showcase the island’s unique conservation stories and highlight the tourism proposition including eco-tourism, slow travel, culture, birdwatching and gastronomy. As well as encouraging day trippers from Ibiza, Formentera aims to drive more overnight stays from the UK through highlighting its varied accommodation options.
LOTUS will work with the island to create an engaging content campaign and drive awareness amongst the UK travel trade working closely with key tour operator and travel agent partners. Activity will also encompass press trips, travel trade training, tour operator product development and virtual events.
