Lotus UK at World Travel Market 2012

Lotus UK at WTM

As ever, World Travel Market 2012 was a busy occasion for the Lotus UK team.  With clients flying in from around the globe we were busy preparing press conferences, dinners, presentations and the launch of a world first with WTM organisers – Reed Exhibitions.

We started the week with our annual Lotus Network get together, a meeting of minds and ideas as our partners from Europe, Asia and the US met to review, plan and prioritise our activity for the next quarter.

The show started with a number of high profile press conferences as we organised presentations from Tourism Ministers from Indonesia and Spain to speak to media about their marketing and commercial objectives for 2013. The Hong Kong Tourism Board, Yunnan Tourism Administration and Wendy Wu Tours also hosted a press conference to highlight the unique culture and landscapes of the Yunnan Province, together with a range of new itineraries.

Our clients from around the world had busy diaries as we organised media and trade meetings throughout the week.

World Travel Market showcased a world first with our client Palladium Hotel Group’s innovative biometric and Facebook technology. Alfonso Giménez, Associate Director of Marketing for Palladium Hotel Group spoke at Social Travel Market alongside Neasa Costin of Facebook, demonstrating how hotels can generate tangible return on investment through Facebook initiatives.

As social communication becomes more and more important to our clients, Enrique Ruiz de Lera, Director of the Spanish Tourist Office also spoke at Social Travel Market about how to market a destination in a time of austerity. The Spanish Tourist Office is the first UK tourist board to launch a Social News Hub integrating their news and social content into a one stop news hub. Add link.

A different type of social, the evenings were packed! We hosted clients and media at the British Guild of Travel Writers awards while the Lotus Network enjoyed the fabulous fish and chips at the Ivy. During the week evenings were taken up with drinks receptions at the Spanish Embassy, the fantastic Virgin party, travel blogger table football championships, Ibiza Blue Marlin VIP drinks, the infamous TTG and Travel Weekly evenings not to mention hosting our clients at some of London’s top dining spots.

World Travel Market is an exciting and exhausting week! We were proud to host our clients in our Olympic city and are thrilled with the results we achieved.

Thanks to all!
