Lotus-UK to represent the Ministry of Tourism of Ecuador in UK

Cotopaxi

The Ministry of Tourism of Ecuador has announced its new PR and representation offices in six key European markets: UK, Spain, Germany, France, Netherlands and Sweden. In London, Lotus-UK has been appointed from immediate effect.

Sarah Johnson, MD of Lotus-UK says:”Ecuador is a fascinating and diverse country with huge appeal for British travellers. Despite its huge potential to attract visitors from around the world, the country is firmly committed to ensuring that tourism contributes positively towards protecting its cultural and natural heritage. I have great admiration for their Conscious Tourism programme, a new model for promoting sustainable and social tourism that is a pioneering approach to tourism development which I hope will soon be adopted by other destinations"

Mr Luis Falconi, Vice Minister of Tourism for Ecuador, explained the choice of the new representatives in Europe: "The Conscious Tourism programme that we offer to European travellers through our "Love Life" campaign is a more holistic strategy than just selling sun, sea or well known tourism icons. Our newly appointed European partners have shown us that they understand these values perfectly and that they have the know-how and means to take our message to the market successfully.

Responsible for travel trade and media relations, the Ecuador account will be managed by Director Rebecca Wilson, a fluent Spanish speaker.

The European market represents 17% of all foreign visitors to Ecuador and despite adverse market conditions in many European outbound markets. European tourism to Ecuador continues to increase; last year 21,011 British tourists visited Ecuador.
